How Solopreneurs Can Make Critical Thinking As Easy as Breathing

Have you ever wondered why some people seem naturally skilled at evaluating complex situations, while others struggle to move beyond surface-level analysis?

Which group do you belong to?

What if I told you that critical thinking isn't just an innate talent, but a deliberate practice that can be developed and refined?

This post is the start of our learning journey. We will learn how to apply critical thinking in various business situations.

Each business situation will be the focus of the next weeks' posts.

Learning to apply Critical Thinking might shift your whole perspective. Developing critical thinking has been shown to result in increased:

  • creativity

  • open-mindness

  • self-confidance

Unfortunately, I've met many solopreneurs that prefer to "just wing it", which is not a viable approach.

There are many reasons.

Self-doubt will kill your Business

Negative self talk and self-doubt stop you from making decisions.

How can your business survive these changing times if you don't make quick, precise decisions?

Guessing leads to doubt.

Solid reasoning provides the knowledge you need to take each step with confidence.

Additional reasons of discouragment include:

  • Congitive Overload. There is an excessive amount of information from all sides. Critical Thinking will help you define what's important or urgent from what is not.

  • Fear of Failure. "Feeling" that your business is doing all right is easier than facing hard cold numbers. What if they say otherwise? With critical thinking you'll be using cold numbers as your stepping stone to success instead of them being judge and jury of your performance. It will ease your burden and guide you to success.

  • Isolation Issue. Solopreneurs don't have anyone to talk to or prefer not to share. There is no problem here.Critical Thinking is a self-judging tool. You'll be applying to yourself and your problems, and your decisions.

Here's how, step by step:

Step 1: Figure out which critical thinking category your problem falls into.

There's more than one way to define critical thinking.

There are a lot of them.

They zero in on different areas, so they're better suited to handle different challenges you might be dealing with in your business.

In the next few weeks, we'll cover some of them. Subscribe to our newsletter and catch them all. We'll focus on the ones we think are most relevant and useful for you.

Step 2: Follow the questions we give you for each case.

Reading the story about Chris, the friendly neighborhood creator dealing with this or that critical thinking method, won't help.

What will help is to try it yourself.

Each post will have a few leading questions to help you think through the process. You can download the file or use it from the post.

After reading the hopefully entertaining story, try to apply it to your situation. Even a situation you already resolved, it's worth to test out the difference and see the impact.

Step 3: Keep at it. You'll see what you're looking for

You'll have more decisions to make as you go.

More problems are bound to pop up.

As long as you're alive, and definitely as long as you have a business, decisions and problems will always pop up. New and old.

If you keep at it, you'll eventually get the hang of it.

It will be like breathing.

Solving problems will be as easy as breathing.

You'll find that making decisions is as easy as breathing air.

Or you can keep guessing.

Back to doubt.

It's up to you.
